Childhood stuttering can leave young kids feeling frustrated, nervous and self-conscious. Attending speech/stuttering therapy sometimes reinforces the idea that they are somehow “different” or “defective.” They may truly want to read, communicate their thoughts and feel confident, but their occasional problem with stuttering undermines their every move. Parents face a different set of challenges when dealing with child stuttering. They may be conflicted between seeking out early intervention and letting the problem disappear on its own. They may also suffer from some sort of misguided guilt, mistakenly believing that they must be bad parents to produce a child who stutters.

Stammering stuttering is a common type of disfluency that most kids have at some point while growing up and learning their words. Some stuttering in childhood is in the form of stop-and-go speak patterns or periods of quick speech followed by breathlessness. Their little brains seem to be working much faster than their mouths, causing a hodge-podge of verbiage to come spilling out. Some children may begin to stutter in nerve-wracking situations, such as before auditioning for a play, when asking someone on a date or if caught in a lie. Other times, a person who stutters may interject too many “ums,” “likes” or “uhs.” Usually, the stuttering speech disorder clears up or only emerges on rare occasion. However, a child who stutters for more than a few months may be in need of greater attention.

Normal developmental stuttering is common for about 90% of children, but true stuttering only occurs in about 1% of all cases. Parents can identify true child stuttering if they hear their child repeating words/sounds/syllables, uttering hard-to-discern sentences, talking slowly with a number of pauses, speaking at an uneven rate, stuttering excessively when tired or stressed, or avoiding speech entirely in reaction to a stutter. If the child does not show marked improvement within 1 to 2 months, then parents should intervene with some sort of speech therapy.

At home, parents can encourage an end to child stuttering by listening carefully and patiently to what the child is trying to say. Parents should never interject the predicted words the child is attempting to pronounce, or command the child to “speak clearly” or “slow down.” Household rules should be that everyone waits for each other to finish speaking before saying something, which will take some of the fast-talking pressure off the child. Another rule should be that no one is allowed to tease the child who has the problem stutter, as this will undermine his or her confidence. Most importantly, the child must feel loved and accepted, as this will balance out the lost esteem and self-consciousness that come along with stuttering.

Dyslexia screening is sometimes administered in school settings for children who seem to be struggling with reading, writing and spelling. However, there are few standardized tests that are used across the United States that definitively identify children with this learning disability. In some circles, the existence of dyslexia in adults may even be debated, just as ADHD in adults is often down-played. Unfortunately, this in-fighting between departments has left many children and adults confused, downtrodden and unable to reach their full potential without a helping hand. Hopefully, new dyslexia tests that rely on brain scans can open the doorway to understanding.

In “Advances in early years screening for dyslexia in the United Kingdom” (2007), researchers discuss the dyslexia early screening test (DEST) and the cognitive profiling system (CoPS 1), which are both approved for use in the United States as well. By administering these dyslexia screening tests early, it’s believed that at-risk students can be identified before they even fail, thereby decreasing the possibility that these kids will develop emotional, behavioral and motivational issues. A number of educators who teach adults and children with learning disabilities say these two tests are the best options we have today, as long as they’re administered.

In 2009, scientist Jeffrey R. Gruen, M.D. received a $5.2 million grant to further his research on the genetic roots of the dyslexia adult learning disability. In his studies, Gruen is busy comparing the complete genomes of 1,000 fluent readers and 1,000 dyslexic children to see exactly which genes play a hand in reading difficulties. Over the past decade, scientists have found that gene mutations, particularly on the DCDC2 gene, are closely linked with dyslexia. Dr. Gruen adds that the ultimate goal is “the creation of a simple, inexpensive dyslexia screening test that would apply to the general American population.”

Critics argue that dyslexia screening is largely subjective and that it’s futile to distinguish “adults with dyslexia” from “adults who have difficulty reading.” They add that saddling someone with “an adult learning disability” can actually further hinder their development or expose them to discrimination. However, researchers have also found that a number of individuals flourish once they learn about other adult learning styles that they may benefit from. Perhaps some of the biological arguments for dyslexia will settle the score once and for all.

The types of depression must first be understood before it’s treated. Depression troubles 15 million Americans every year, it’s not a joke. The most troubling aspect is that only about 1/3 of those people will actually seek the available cures for depression. Too many Americans are still tarnished by the age-old stereotype associated with any mental illness. They refuse to allow a label placed on them that might damage their good character. In order to treat depression it must be diagnosed. Diagnosis can’t happen until the afflicted seek help. That’s the terrible merry go round of depression.

Depression has many causes. Depression can be brought on by biological, emotional, environmental and physical factors . Don’t overlook the genetic link. Family history plays a major role in many diseases that are passed on down the line. It is not just family history but family life in general. The stress of everyday life can be brutal. For some there is a constant struggle to survive from week to week. For others there is that constant battle to perform satisfactory in a competitive society. Abuse such as sexual, physical or even emotional can overload people with anxiety. The list isn’t a short one.

The worst part about depression is that in the early stages it is sometimes hard to diagnose. It’s hard to see the symptoms even if a loved one suffers from this illness. Everyone gets down in the dumps once in a while. This is natural. Depression is more than just temporary sadness. Early detection is no longer an option when your whole life begins changing. Those suffering from depression tend to feel all alone and disgusted with life. Signs of hope in their lives are gone. Sleep habits and enjoyment from life no longer exist. Treatment is now needed before the illness worsens.

When treating depression the afflicted needs to receive a renewed sense of hope and meaning to be effective. This is typically achieved through ‘talk therapy’. It’s effective after months and sometimes years of treatment. The medical professional also has the option of prescribing anti-depressants like Prozac, Paxil, Zoloft, Lexapro, Celex, or Luvox . These drugs are effective but they are accompanied by many side effects as well. Depression treatment with natural herbs has also proven to work well. There are also many depression support groups geared towards working with depressed individuals. Medical professionals should be consulted if you or someone you know shows symptoms of depression.

Just because you feel sad and depressed for a few days does not mean that you have depression. Depression can last for years, it’s a serious illness. Studies have show that around 15 million Americans are affected by this illness each and every year. And yet, sadly, only about 1/3 of those people seek medical care. The age- old stereotype associated with mental illness influences many to still avoid admitting they suffer from depression. Of the list of progressive ailments depression is one of the worst. Without treatment it will take over your life. It cannot be ignored.

There are many types of depression and it is caused by a variety of factors. Physical and emotional problems, chemical issues, even DNA all play a part. The day to day lives of the victim may even have a role. Stress and other negative influences have been known to contribute. Depression is a very complicated disease. We also recognize the intricacy of man’s mind. The medical profession is working steadily in an attempt to study the mind and how it works. A chemical imbalance in the brain causes depression, that’s known. Researches learn more about this complex series of actions and reactions with passing time. Better treatments come from more knowledge.

Depression treatment comes from a variety of medications on the market. Quick fix schemes exist too, but they don’t work. You have to be careful to seek medications that have been clinically studied and have been proven to display positive effects in the treatment of depression. Not too long ago people who were considered mentally ill were thrown into asylums, never again to be seen or heard. It’s good to know that’s no longer the case. In 1988 the anti-depressant ‘Prozac’ first hit the market in the United States. Although it has side effects it is widely used and it is effective.

Since that time more and more use has been made of a new class of anti-depressants. Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors, SSRI, are being used today. These include Paxil, Zoloft, Lexapro, Celexa, and Luvox. All have been proven effective but come with varied side effects. There are also numerous natural herbal medications available on the market. The majority of these that have been proven to work as well as the anti-depressants contain the St. John Wort extract ingredient called ‘hyperforin’. If this ingredient is used in the proper strength it is effective. When seeking depression medications that work ask questions, do your research, and know the facts.

Considered an alternative method for Managing panic attacks, Emotional Freedom Technique or EFT for short has helped people all over the world overcome anxiety disorders naturally. People who’d rather not take anti-anxiety medication, might turn to natural Cures For Panic Attacks such as EFT, hypnotherapy, aromatherapy, homeopathy and acupuncture.

The Emotional Freedom Technique is very similar to other meridian therapies such as Acupuncture. Used in Chinese medicine, the practice of acupuncture dates back thousands of years, and is the use of long thin needles which are placed lightly on meridian points on the body to stimulate flow of chi.

Similarly, EFT is able to stimulate flow of chi by accessing major meridian points on the body. Because EFT works directly on meridian points on the body, a person can often experience immediate positive effects physically and emotionally. The use of needles is not required, but instead you stimulate the major meridian points on your body by rhythmically tapping on them with your fingertips.

The mind and body is one energy system, one affects the other directly, like a stressful day which turns into a headache or backache, your mind affects the body and vice versa. When we experience stress or negative emotions, it is a disruption or blockage in our energy system. As they build up, more stress hormones are released triggering Panic Symptoms.

When you tap a sequence of meridian points on your body it rebalances energy flow, the body and mind calms down, adrenaline levels reduce and negative emotions subside. The tapping of the meridian points is combined with the use of affirmations during practice. This is why EFT is so effective at healing the mind and body because the core problem is identified as well as treating its negative effects on the energy system.

Although EFT is a fairly new therapy, it’s use and success has spread across the globe. EFT isn’t just effective at emotional issues and managing panic attacks. It’s also effective at dealing with physical pain. It’s also easier than you think, in fact you don’t need to know anything about meridian points to learn the how to apply this technique. You can find lots of free information out there on the Internet showing you tapping sequence in detail.

Apart from the actual tapping itself, it’s important that the core problem is recognized and worked on. Before starting the sequence it’s a good idea to write down the problem that you want to address. Using positive statements in EFT is very important for maximum results. A healthy love and respect for oneself is healthy for the mind and body to grow and develop positively.

Managing panic attacks with EFT is very convenient and easy since it can be practiced at any moment. You will find that by using the technique to manage negative emotions and symptoms that your stress and anxiety will dramatically reduce. Feel free to adapt the affirmations to your needs. Some people may feel a little self-conscious practicing EFT in public but you’d be surprised how little people pay attention.

Although thousands of people have benefited greatly from EFT it is something that needs to be practiced regularly for consistent results. Don’t simply do it a few times and give up. Don’t be afraid to use the technique for other physical and emotional problems. Your energy system will improve in time by practicing it routinely.

Since medication fails to cure a psychological problem such as anxiety, the only ways to carry on with a next to normal life is either by finding ways to cope with it or by overcoming it. Resisting is not the same thing with overcoming anxiety. A person who tries to bear with anxiety will normally feel very unhappy and depressed all the time because of the burdening worries. Fortunately, one can recover from this miserable condition at least partly, which could often represent a significant improvement of the entire life and health. Here are a few things you can use in the fight for overcoming anxiety.Click over here for extra info on symptoms of anxiety.

If you don’t control your thoughts, anxiety becomes more intense, and climax of anxiety climbs with the strength of the negative thoughts. Learning how to control your thoughts is the first way of overcoming anxiety. Sometimes, complementary therapies that teach relaxation and meditation will also teach you how to manage emotions and feelings with a certain detachment. A simple exercise is to start and end your day by considering the beautiful things that happen to you, no matter how small and insignificant they may seem. Positive affirmations could also work well for such motivational purposes: use them extensively for a few minutes before you start your day.

People who set small goals to achieve are more successful in overcoming anxiety because they divert their thoughts and feelings in a much more positive direction. Then, discussing your problems and worries with your therapist or with someone you trust will bring alleviation and help provided that you keep them at the right proportions. This is doable if you are honest and do not exaggerate the issues when telling them. Therapy will show you how to open up more, regardless if you choose individual or group sessions as a form of treatment.

Visualizing positive situations and the right solutions to your problems, trying to be cheerful and laugh as much as you can, reading quality stuff and enjoying the company of friends and family work wonders on the optimism level thus reducing worries. Plus, physical exercising such as the practice of a sport will do you a lot of good. Training reduces the stress at the level of the muscles and relaxation will come more swiftly.

People who’d rather not take medication for anxiety may choose a natural Panic attacks cure such as herbal alternatives and essential oils. People may choose natural alternatives since there can be risks involved in taking anti-anxiety medication. As well as being addictive, the side-effects that one could experience from taking medication can range from mild to severe. Many people prefer the idea of natural alternatives such as aromatherapy and herbal remedies since they carry far less risks. Here we take a brief look at these two alternatives to treat anxiety.

Natural remedies; Perhaps one the most commonly used herbal remedy is St John’s wort. The widespread use of St John’s wort in Europe as a prescribed alternative to treat anxiety disorders such as Social anxiety and Generalized Anxiety, has made other countries take note. People with anxiety or depression disorders benefit from the active ingredient that is Hypericin, contained in St John’s wort. This herbal remedy helps as a panic attacks cure, and promote calmness and general wellbeing.

In trials, St John’s wort has proven to be more effective than a placebo. This herbal remedy is available at health stores or pharmacies and can be purchased in a capsule form without a prescription. If you are taking other medication, ensure that you check with your doctor first before taking St John’s wort. Studies have shown possible interactions with other medications.

Stress, tension and excessive worrying can build up to anxiety and panic attacks. This is why relaxation is perhaps one of the most effective ways to deal with anxiety. Standardized Valerian extract is a safe and non addictive sedative which has been used for centuries and again is widely used. More commonly, it is taken by people with mild or intermittent sleep problems, but it has shown positive effects for anxiety.

Catnip, Motherwort, Passionflower; these are just some of the other herbal remedies that can have a relaxing effect on nervous system. Most remedies can be bought as tinctures, capsules or teas at good health stores. Your natural panic attack remedy should have a listing of the recommended dosing on the label. Even though herbal alternatives are considered safer, you should avoid the temptation of taking more in attempt to gain a stronger effect.

Another natural alternative to remedy anxiety is the use of essential oils in aromatherapy. Essential oils may be blended together to create your own personal blends. Through inhalation essential oils can be absorbed into the bloodstream stimulating the production of relaxing hormones such as endorphin and serotonin. When we laugh or engage in pleasurable activities, the same natural good feel chemicals are released.

Exhaustion affects our mood negatively as well as physical functions, such as motor skills and concentration. Many people enjoy the instant relaxing effect of aromatherapy. Relaxation can benefit us by reducing harmful chemicals that can build up inside us. A relaxed mind and body sleeps and functions better. Through deep rest the body is able to re-energize and regenerate, giving you more energy to cope with the days stresses.

People find relief from stress and anxiety from the following oils; Geranium, Lemon, Lavender and Jasmine. Essential oils can be used in several ways, such as vaporization and massage. Why not take it in turns with your partner to give each other massage? Aromatherapy can work as an effective natural panic attacks cure. Alternatively, try scented candles and incense in the evening which can also help relax, and calm the body and mind before sleep.

Using a few simple techniques can help Cure panic attacks during public speaking. Shyness is a common problem that affects people of all ages. Very few people feel comfortable being at the center of attention and find it a nerve-racking experience. The thought of being watched is enough to create immense feelings of fear and anxiety for some people.

People who get extremely anxious in social situations are likely to have social anxiety disorder. Although social phobia is highly common in the general population, it remains largely under-diagnosed and untreated. Studies show that most adult cases of social phobia started from adolescence. Cases of social phobia in children commonly develop from frequent criticism from teachers and parents, and rejection and ridicule from peers.

Becoming an adult doesn’t automatically make us less self-critical and unconfident around others. Most people with social anxiety fail in Overcoming Panic Attacks even into adulthood. The following situations are common for causing panic attacks; going on a date, going to an interview, or making a public speech.

Panic sensations can be frightening especially when you have nowhere to run. The domino effect of anxiety symptoms causes more fear and more symptoms, which trigger an attack. Hyperventilation, a choking sensation, trembling in the limbs and a thumping heartbeat; these are some of the hundreds of symptoms that can be experienced during an attack.

Doing something wrong or embarrassing themselves in public is a prime fear of sufferers. Planning ahead and being prepared can help to cure panic attacks preemptively. Knowing what you’re going to say and do will reduce your anxiety and worrying. On paper, prepare what you’re going to say and do and make it easy to follow. Prepare some prompt cards to keep you on track.

Practice makes perfect, so go through content until you become familiar with it. Try and practice in front of someone you are close to who will support you. Practice both out loud and in your mind. Visualization techniques can work wonders for rehearsing and is used by professional athletes, politicians to successful business people.

Combining confident and encouraging affirmations with visualization exercises can help give you that extra boost you need. Start the exercise by slow deep breathing and when your feel calm, visualize someone who is confident and assertive. Whoever it is you’ve chosen focus and enhance the strengths. See the way they stand and talk, and see how confident they are.

Keeping this image, step forward into that person. Sense this confidence and assertiveness radiating outwards from within and go through your next social event mentally in detail. Picture yourself standing in front of everyone at complete ease and the whole thing going perfectly. Do this several times throughout the day and everyday up to the event.

Visualization exercises can help cure panic attacks for any social situation and help give you the practice you need to feel confident. On the day mentally go through this positive picture one more time. Take some nice deep breaths, shake any tension, put a smile on your face and go with a purpose. Everyone makes mistakes, so don’t dwell on them, and remember it gets easier. There are lots of other self-help practices such as EFT, hypnotherapy and NLP that can be used to reduce Anxiety and depression.

Is your life ruled by anxiety? Do you desire to stop worrying all the time? Fortunately, there are many anti anxiety treatments available to deal with anxiety and panic attacks. These treatments vary from natural methods to prescribed medications. It is up to you, if you want to choose one or combine some cures. It is therefore, important to comprehend all the available cures before making a selection.

A Proper Regime
Research has shown that the presence or lack of certain nutrients can have a major effect on our brain and mood. A proper diet is the first natural anti anxiety treatment that everybody should follow.

- Drink no less than 1.5 liters of water a day as your disposition can be affected by your hydration levels.
- Alcohol may well cause anxiety symptoms. Stay away from or limit your alcohol intake.
- Keep away from coffee and caffeine as those stimulants bring on anxiety symptoms.
- Research indicates that there is a connection between a shortage in magnesium and nervousness.
- Anxiety symptoms can be reduced by maintaining sufficient energy levels in the body. By consuming more frequent small meals your energy levels will be stable all the way through the day.

Physical Workouts.
Frequent exercising is good for you and correct breathing will help you to loosen up. Deep inhaling coupled with tai chi or yoga will promote natural breathing. These breathing exercises will increase the oxygen levels in your blood, revitalize your body and clear your mind.

Quietening Your Mind
Your mind is actually the storage space of all depressing thoughts. Biofeedback, meditation and self-hypnosis are among the mind-freeing techniques that you can practice. However, this is easier said than done, as quietening your mind will take effect only when you are capable to let go of your worries.

Herbs
There are quite a few herbs available, which can be employed as anti anxiety natural remedies, like:

- Saint John’s Wort can ease the nervous system and avoid panic attacks.
- Valerian is used for people who have severe anxiety. This herb works as a tranquillizer and is a helpful remedy for anxiousness.
- Passion Flower acts on the brain and the nervous system by adapting neurotransmitters. It is therefore, also used as alternative remedy for anxiety and sleeplessness.
- Kava kava has a strong tranquillizing effect, which can last from two to seven hours. Lots of sufferers use it to help them relax.

A combination of an equilibrated diet, good respiration, exercising and some herbs can be an efficient anti anxiety remedy.

Therapy
Therapy is one more natural anti anxiety cure. Many therapists use cognitive behavioural therapy to help people suffering from anxiety.

And yes, there are many more natural anti anxiety cures available. Inform yourself about possible alternatives. Check the net, read forums related to anxiety, make a selection and begin.
