Anxiety panic attacks often occur randomly and are extremely shocking and scary experiences. How you might ask, do we stop a severe attack? It’s important not to try and stop a panic attack by fighting it. Although it can seem difficult, you do have control over your emotions when panic symptoms occur.

Although distressing, it’s better to accept the symptoms and sensations and let them dissipate. Scarily many sufferers believe they are dying during an anxiety attack. Symptoms of panic can seem like one is having a cardiac arrest or stroke.

Stabbing pains in the chest, tingling sensations, shallow breath; these can be disturbing and frightening symptoms. What you have to remember is that panic attacks cannot cause death no matter how severe the symptoms. Next time you experience one, remember to stay calm and focus on your breathing.

Hyperventilation often occurs during an attack which only magnifies symptoms. This is why it’s important to breathe slowly and deeply. Doing this alone, can help calm you and alleviate some of the symptoms. If you feel restless, stand up and walk around to calm down.

Sometimes the aftershock of an anxiety attack can last for hours so it’s important to try and stay relaxed. Engage in something that will distract you from thinking about the panic attack. Watch a comedy, make yourself a herbal drink, do some exercise or whatever you enjoy doing.

Anxiety disorders can be difficult to cope with so it’s essential to seek treatment. Ignoring your problem won’t make it go away. Therapy is by far the most successful way to tackle anxiety disorders. Disorders can deteriorate if a person goes without help. Also other disorders may develop such as depression and insomnia.

Having multiple disorders can be extremely hard to cope with. Depression makes a person feel frequently miserable and sad. Sufferers might think that their life is pointless and have feelings of no self-worth. They lose all motivation to do anything, even things they once enjoyed.

It is much more difficult to treat anxiety depression since they both require individual treatment. Suicide rates and use of drugs and alcohol are higher people with both disorders. In most cases long term use of alcohol or drugs can exacerbate mental disorders. What’s worse is that sufferers can become dependent and unable to stop.

Another problem that arises often is sleep problems. A majority of people who suffer from anxiety disorders also complain frequently of the inability to sleep. Racing anxious thoughts and physical tension can keep a person feeling awake. Come bedtime they feel restless, tense and unable to switch their minds off no matter how tired they are.

Tiredness from lack of sleep can make the day grueling and symptoms of anxiety more intense. Nights and even weeks of sleeplessness can occur which can be awfully difficult to deal with. It’s best to get anxiety and depression treated as soon as possible. Ensure that you get help if you suffer from anxiety.
